Overview
Congratulations -- you're on week 34!
Physical Changes
You may be feeling more Braxton Hicks contractions, especially if this is not your first baby. This is a great time to practice relaxing with them. It is our instinct to pull away from discomfort, but the trick to labor is learning to go towards it. Don’t fight it. Go with it. You’ll be amazed that when you don’t fight it…it hurts less! Emotional Feelings
You may feel scared and apprehensive about the birth. But just remember, labor comes and goes. You have a contraction…you relax through it…and when it’s gone you feel just like you do right now. Contraction usually don’t last more than 90 seconds. You can do anything for 90 seconds. Just take them one at a time and before you know it you’ll be holding your baby. About Baby
Your baby weighs about 5 pounds and measures about 19.5 inches from head to toe. Organs are now almost fully mature, except for lungs, and the skin is pink instead of red. Things To Consider
This is the time to make sure your baby is head down (vertex). If not, it still has time to turn. However it would be a great idea to consult with a Perinatalogist about an external version. This is a procedure where the doctor manually tries to move your baby to the head down position. They usually give the mother a uterine relaxant to relax your uterus. The procedure can be a little uncomfortable, but mostly just a lot of pressure and pushing on your belly. You may also consider a Chiropractor who knows the Webster Technique (an adjustment that helps facilitate a vertex position) Also, acupuncture/acupressure may be helpful.
