Week 35
Your Pregnancy At Week 35
Overview
Congratulations -- you're on week 35!
Physical Changes

Your uterus will measure about 35cm from your pubic bone to the top of your uterus. You can feel the “shelf” of your uterus by gently pressing up under your breasts and moving down. This is the time when your provider is checking position of your baby and will probably test you for Group B streptococcus bacteria between now and 37 weeks..

Emotional Feelings

Probably a little moody and tired. It’s getting harder to move around.

About Baby

Your baby measures about 20 inches from head to toe and weighs more than 5.5 pounds. Lungs are almost fully developed, but if born now the baby would probably be put in an incubator. It still doesn't have enough fat deposits beneath its skin to keep warm outside your womb.

Things To Consider
Strep B lives harmlessly in your vaginal tract, but is a potential risk to your baby. You won’t have any symptoms that you have it. Over 40% of women are carriers of this form of bacteria. This test is painless and administered by using a cotton swab , like a large Qtip, and swiping your vaginal and anal areas. The swab is then sent to a lab. If you test positive, your provider will suggest taking one dose antibiotics during labor (IV) at least 4 hours before the birth. Some providers require 2 doses. This is also a great time to consider interveiwing Postpartum doulas. The come after the birth to help with breastfeeding, taking care of other children, making meals etc.
