Week 40
Your Pregnancy At Week 40
Overview
Congratulations -- you're on week 40!
Physical Changes

Feeling heavy and tired. Pelvic pressure and loose hips are very common. If you are having a lot of back pain, get on all fours and do cat stretches (arch back up and down) or lean over a counter to get the baby off of your back.

Emotional Feelings

Ok I’ve made it to my due date, I get phone calls hourly, my back hurts…WHERE”S THE BABY????? Less than 10% of women have their baby on their due date. Realistically most babies will come somewhere around 38 to 42 weeks. You are not considered overdue until 41 weeks and unless it is medically indicated you have up to 42 before they should intervene.

About Baby

Ready to go at anytime! Reflexes are coordinated so the baby can blink, close his eyes, turn his head, grasp firmly and respond to sounds, light and touch. More lanugo falls out, but some may remain at birth on shoulders, folds of skin and backs of ears. Movements are still very squirmy. Make sure you continue to do your kick counts.

Things To Consider
A due date is an estimate only. Try to keep yourself busy.
